Nickel Pellets

Nickel Pellets

Nickel Pellets, also named Hydroxy Nickel Spheres are spherical metal particles made from high-purity nickel powder through an electrolytic refining process. They have excellent corrosion resistance, high thermal and electrical conductivity, and good mechanical properties, making them suitable for high-end industrial fields such as metal printing, rare earth magnets, special alloys, and electronic materials.

UrbanMines® specializes in manufacturing high-purity Hydroxy Nickel Spheres for cutting-edge thin-film deposition processes. We offer a range of purities from 99% to over 99.99%, with standard particle sizes of 5-25 mm, and can also customize ultra-high purity products upon request. Through advanced crystallization and refining processes, our nickel spheres possess perfect sphericity, extremely high density, and a uniform, fine grain structure, ensuring stable, efficient, and low-pollution evaporation and deposition in semiconductor PVD/CVD, electron beam evaporation, atomic layer deposition (ALD), and new energy applications (such as fuel cells and solar thin films). They are key materials for improving thin-film performance and process reliability.

What are Nickel Pellets / Hydroxy Nickel Spheres used for?

Core application areas of nickel pellets

1. Electroplating and surface treatment:

As a high-purity nickel source, it is used to electroplat or electroform the surfaces of various metal substrates (such as car bumpers, aerospace components, coins and precision parts) to form a uniform, dense, and corrosion-resistant decorative or functional protective coating, which has both aesthetic appeal and long-lasting protective performance.

2. As a key conductive material in battery manufacturing

It is used to improve the performance of rechargeable batteries:

Nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries: used directly as active materials or conductive additives.

Lithium-ion batteries: used in cathode materials or conductive pastes, they help improve energy density and cycle life, and are widely used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

3.In alloy production

Alloying elements are added to the melt as important alloying agents to produce high-performance alloys.

Stainless steel : Improves strength, ductility, and corrosion resistance.

High-temperature alloys/superalloys (such as nickel-based alloys): significantly enhance high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance, and are key materials for manufacturing extreme high-temperature components such as jet engine turbine disks and gas turbine blades.

4. Chemical processing and catalysis,

Due to their high specific surface area and chemical activity, are widely used in the chemical industry as highly efficient catalysts or catalyst supports:

Hydrogenation reaction

Catalytic hydrogen production

Petroleum refining and organic synthesis , its high purity ensures catalytic efficiency and process stability.

5. In the electronics and aerospace industries

Its excellent electrical conductivity, heat resistance, and mechanical durability are utilized in the manufacture of:

High-performance electronic connectors and electromagnetic shielding components

Evaporation source material for semiconductor thin film deposition (PVD/CVD)

High-end applications such as precision structural components for aerospace and high-temperature alloy parts .

6. In scientific research and special processes

It is used as a high-purity, highly homogeneous raw material for:

Thin film deposition, powder metallurgy

Electrochemical testing, material synthesis

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) and magnetron sputtering enable precise control over the microstructure of materials.
